Crosshatch Adhesion Test

Method and Results
Method:

The next mechanical test performed was the rigorous Crosshatch Adhesion Test, ASTM D3359. This test involves cutting a grid of 100 squares into the coated panels. A pressure sensitive tape is applied over the grid, and then rapidly peeled away. The number of squares remaining on the panel gives a relative percentage value of adhesion. Original specimens of Wasser® Brand System (panel number 6), POR-15® System (panel number 8), and Rust Bullet® (panel number 2), were evaluated for adhesion in accordance with the procedure set forth in ASTM D3359.
